Engineering Manager

Job title: Engineering Manager
Reports to: Director of Operations
Direct Reports: Maintenance, Set-Up, Engineers

Job purpose:
The Engineering Manager is responsible to provide pro- active leadership to a multidisciplined team, including Maintenance, Set-up, Nozzle and Engineers.
Manage day-to-day activities and provide guidance and direction to their cross functional team who support production operations. Set priorities and manage projects for the ME team.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Works closely with equipment OEM to develop and maintain equipment reliability, capability, improvement plans and upgrades
• Supports document control by ensuring that all processes have proper instructions and process flow
• Performs all necessary PFMA and control plans based on all DFMA process & definition
• Travels to customer locations and reviews future product design and tool development
• Manages and maintains engineering issues for products that are currently in production
• Obtains necessary government and engineering approvals for design validation and verification before implementing engineering changes; oversees company SR & ED program
• Participates actively in driving continuous improvement programs such as those relating to cost/unit, output quantity, quality, process instructions and labour efficiency
• Oversees plant layouts including philosophy on ergonomics and health and safety for all employees
• Analyzes customer requirements and proposes innovative engineering related solutions, and ensures equipment and processes maintain high performing standards
• Manage CI projects with cost & scheduling constraints
• Develop and maintain comprehensive PM program for all equipment
• Ensures all Engineering, Maintenenance and Set up KPI’s are achieved, develop action plan to close attainment gaps
• Facilitates SMED activities to improve Set up efficiencies
• Utilizes ERP as required
• Takes every precaution reasonable for the protection of employees included but not limited to ensuring all are provided with and wear any equipment, protective device or clothing required mand advise employees of any potential or actual health or safety mdangers known
• Completes all other duties as assigned

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
• Minimum of 8 years Manufacturing or Engineering experience in a manufacturing menvironment
• Operations Management, APQP
• Strong communication, presentation, organizational and mechanical skills
• Effective use of technology, instruments, tools and information systems
• Proven ability to design or make recommendations for new equipment
• Ability to seek a team approach when necessary
• Ability to provide direction and guidance as needed.
